Membership Benefits
CAA is a membership organisation open to anyone on payment of an annual fee. You must be a current member of CAA in order to register for or attend the annual conference.
Members are entitled to the following:
- to attend the annual conference (requires payment of a separate conference registration fee);
- to keep their name and address on the mailing list held by the CAA Steering Committee for 3 years;
- to call themselves ‘A member of CAA International’;
- to receive a copy of all membership mailings;
- to participate in CAA policy by attending and voting at the Annual General Meeting (AGM);
- to vote in elections for executive steering committee officers;
- to become a member of the Steering Committee, either elected or co-opted;
- to request a partial or full waiver of the Article Processing Charge for publishing in the Journal of Computer Applications in Archaeology (JCAA) if the member meets all of the eligibility requirements;
- to receive a 20% discount off proceedings ordered from CAA;
- to receive a 10% discount on any publications purchased at Oxbow Books and BAR/Archaeopress

At the 2023 AGM, the membership approved the new tiered fee structure that takes into account a member’s country of residence.
Annual Regular Membership
- Members residing in any of the countries listed below: €75
- Members residing in countries not listed below: €30
Annual Concessionary Membership
- Members residing in any of the countries listed below: €25
- Members residing in countries not listed below: €10
Concessionary memberships are available to all currently-enrolled students, retired individuals, and those whose income is below the threshold of their country group:
- For countries listed below, the recommended annual income for concessionary membership is less than €25,000, or the equivalent in a local currency
- For countries not listed below, the recommended annual income for concessionary membership is less than €20,000, or the equivalent in a local currency

Members living in the following countries will pay the higher rate within the applicable membership category: Andorra; Australia; Austria; Belgium; Bermuda; British Virgin Islands; Brunei Darussalam; Canada; Cayman Islands; Cyprus; Denmark; Finland; France; Germany; Greenland; Hong Kong SAR (China); Iceland; Ireland; Israel; Italy; Japan; Korea, Republic of; Kuwait; Liechtenstein; Luxembourg; Macao SAR (China); Malta; Monaco; Netherlands; New Caledonia; New Zealand; Norway; Puerto Rico; Qatar; San Marino; Singapore; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland; United Arab Emirates; United Kingdom; United States of America
This list consists of the countries with highest per capita Gross Domestic Products (GDP) according to the United Nations and will be updated every year or two based up on the most current figures available at the time.
Bursaries
Members entitled to the concessionary rate or regular members living outside of the countries listed above may also apply for a bursary to help defray travel expenses when attending the annual conference.
