Join the CAA International’s Ethics Committee

The Committee’s current work includes updating the CAA ethics policy in several important areas, including research in contexts of conflict, artificial intelligence, human remains, and Indigenous data and heritage concerns. The Committee may also be asked to review papers or abstracts flagged for ethical concerns as part of the 2027 conference review process.

We are looking for members who can contribute thoughtfully and collegially to these discussions. Prior experience with ethics policy, heritage protection, digital archaeology, Indigenous research ethics, human remains, AI, or conference governance would be especially welcome, but all interested members are encouraged to put themselves forward.

If you are interested in serving, please contact ethics@caa-international.org with a brief cover letter and resume noting your interest and any relevant experience by August 24th.

Thank you for helping CAA maintain a responsible, inclusive, and ethically grounded scholarly community.
